Main Ensemble

The guitar ensemble has been a primary forte of the Toa Payoh Guitar Club. Although the Club has sometimes formed a Junior Ensemble, most members would eventually play in the Main Ensemble.

The Main Ensemble comprises of different guitar parts played by different members forming an ensemble. Members would play the different guitar parts based on their skills level.

The Club's ensemble has been better known for its Latin-American pieces and occasionally its repertoire includes Classical, Contemporary and Pop Music.

Each year, the Main Ensemble finds new challenges, tries out new music and helps in the development of young musicians. It is also an avenue for guitarists to come together to play and enjoy the music in an ensemble.

Singapore Cultural Medallion, Mr. Alex Abisheganaden is the patron of the Toa Payoh Guitar Club. He not only conducts the Main Ensemble, he also provides guidance to the general music directions and growth of the Club.

In addition to many years of historical records of great ensemble performances with the Prime Classical Guitars, the Club has recently acquired a new range of instruments from Alto, Bass, Contrabass, Guitarron and Prime of the Niibori Guitarto give the Ensemble a wider breath of guitar sounds, and enabling the Ensemble to play a wider range of repertoires.
